Being faced with 38 felonies all in one case was mind-blowing. To seal my fate, I was found near a weapon that contained one of the supposed victim's blood. All of my hope would have been lost without Sara and those that represented my group. She fought day and night to find a way to relieve us of these charges. When it came time, Sara was ready for trial and guns blazing. Myself on the other hand was not. Against Sara's judgement and wishes, a plea deal was signed. She was able to get the state down to 3 counts of Armed Violence with a sentence of only 5 years at 50%. Without the guidance I had from Sara Garber, I could very well still be locked in that cage today, but Sara didn't stop there. She kept in contact with me while I was serving my time, always asked what I needed and how I was being treated by staff. She even stood up on my behalf when it came time for placement from parole. Sara has been more than a lawyer or friend, but a guardian that has guided my every step!
